DECEMBER AND CHRISTMAS 2005

WEEK OF PRAYER May 2005

We focussed prayer on the community of Disley
using a Prayer Guide and gathering for quiet prayer
each morning and evening.

On Saturday 14th May we used an interactive
PRAYER INSTALLATION from TEAR Fund
to help us take a journey into poverty.

 

We joined with churches around the world for the
 on Sunday 15th May.

 

WORKTALK in February and April 2005

A series of sermons and small group studies
helped us to apply our faith in the workplace

We have been supporting the work of our partner agency, BMS World Mission.

We have also been collecting resources for aid and reconstruction projects in Sri Lanka, in partnership with International Aid.

 GOD ON LINE 2005

 

Saturday 19th March 2005
Once again we organised a Spring weekend of worship and Bible teaching. Our main speaker this year was Derek Tidball, Principal of The London School of Theology (formerly London Bible College). Derek is a gifted communicator, the author of 20 books (including "The Message of the Cross" and "The Message of Leviticus" in IVP's Bible Speaks Today Series), and a regular speaker at events such as Spring Harvest, Keswick and other Bible Conventions.
Our second speaker was Kaz Stanton
Worship was led by Richard Williamson and musicians from Poynton Baptist Church. (Richard is one of the leaders of the worship group "Wellspring".)
Christians from DBC and many neighbouring churches found this to be an inspiring, challenging and encouraging event.

40 DAYS OF PURPOSE

We have gained a great deal from the"40 Days of Purpose" programme, exploring five purposes which can bring meaning and a Bible-based structure to our lives. For more details click the title graphic above.

We had a great time with a bouncy castle for the littlies; a Chinese Auction for all ages; a challenging quiz for the brainies; some musical entertainment from Jonathan Bramwell and Friends; and of course some tastie food!

HARVEST FAMILY SERVICE
An opportunity for all ages to give thanks to God for providing us with food and a good place to live, but also to remember those who live in "the desert places", especially our friends in Trapia, Brazil.

• Baptist Missionary Society Action Team
  Lydia joined a Baptist Missionary Society Action Team at the end of August 2000. This team spent 6 months in Sri Lanka and 3 months touring churches and schools in the UK speaking about their experiences.

• Capernwray Connect
  Eleven young people from our Youth Club (11-13's) travelled to Capernwray Hall for "Connect" - an activity and Bible teaching holiday. To see what went on, click here.

  Growing in the art of keeping in touch with God - took place on Saturday 17th March, with two teaching sessions and an evening celebration.
